Driving Chaos

PHOTO PROMPT © Lisa Fox

As I backed out of the driveway, I wondered what my life would have been like if I hadn’t been hit with so many tragedies all at once.  Would I be the proud owner of a baby bouncer and a battery powered vehicle?  Would I have two sons and a daughter like I had always wanted?  Would I have all girls?  Two boys?  Where would I be living now?  I shook my head sadly as I knew kids would never be in my future.  The loud chaos of what would have been has now be replaced by silence and anxiety.

Apparently, all those tragedies have left this person totally alone.

The stupid world of “what if’s.”

Those are the kind of thoughts that can drive you crazy, a bitter stew of what-ifs flavored with regret.
