As the boat drifted away from the dock, I wondered if I had made the right decision. Everyone I knew was floating on the rickety wooden boat, but I hadn’t been able to force myself to get on. I was suspicious of the boat and I was suspicious of the captain. If he was even a captain. Would he really bring everyone back safely? Everyone let me know how much fun I was missing, but when they finally did return to land – three days later – I knew their trip hadn’t gone as planned. Which is exactly what I wanted.

I’m sure she made the right choice. Why tempt fate? That said, she didn’t have to be vindictive about their troubles!
