Standing Room Only

A World of Short Stories

Sunrises

PHOTO PROMPT © Roger Bultot

The moment I saw the first sunrise in my house, I knew I was never going to leave. I had never been much of a morning person, but if mornings looked like this, I knew I couldn’t get enough. When I finally decided to stop drinking wine with my dinner, I found myself able to get out of bed early enough to enjoy the sunrise. I never knew what I was missing when I woke up late with a headache. But the morning the case of wine showed up on my front porch, I knew Michael had found me again.

  1. Nice misdirection and a chilling end.
