“Don’t come crying to me when you get thrown out of school. Thrown off the team.” Ariel followed me to my car and when she tried to grab my arm, I had to try really hard not to scream.
“You have ruined my life. Do not touch me. Do not talk to me. Stay away.” I shook Ariel’s hand off and headed back toward my car. Ariel continued to follow me, but luckily, she didn’t say anything else or try to get into my car.
I waited until I had driven around the block and out of Ariel’s view. I knew what she was doing and why she was doing it. I was going to get kicked off the team for sure, but I wasn’t going to get kicked out of school. I didn’t want to be kicked out of school.
All I had to do was make sure the due time and attention was given to Ariel so she wouldn’t rat me out before I was planned and ready. She had enough ammunition to get me into more trouble than getting kicked out of school and off the team. I restarted my car and headed back to the parking lot where I left Ariel.
I needed to know exactly what her plans were and exactly how much time I had left. Everything I had planned for Ariel’s birthday party was about to get thrown away by a simple misunderstanding. A little fluke in miscommunication and here we were.
