“Lovely evening we’re having,” Jeff said as he pulled me toward the front door.
“Everything was fine until Bryant came over. He was not invited and I mean to tell him why.”
“Bryant had nothing to do with what happened tonight. It was all what you and your sister did. Not Bryant.” Jeff turned and pointed his finger directly in my face.
If I wasn’t furious already, this finger pointing sent me over the edge. I had never felt like this in my entire life. I never wanted to come to the party in the first place and now Jeff was blaming the entire downfall on me. I felt like there was nothing worse than being blamed for something I didn’t do. Much less having a finger pointed straight into my face while I was being blamed.
“Let me go. I will not leave with you.” I recoiled as Jeff reached toward me again. “You know Jessie and I had nothing to do with Bryant’s behavior and reaction. Take your hand out of my face. Now.”
Jeff’s eyes narrowed as he crossed his arms over his chest. I started to pack up so I could find Jess so we could get the hell away from Jeff and Bryant. As I turned away from Jeff, I immediately saw that our problem was far from over. The police were coming and would undoubtedly find out about the warrant for my arrest. The arrest I had been hiding for the last six years.
