Desolation

PHOTO PROMPT © Lisa Fox

I knew there was going to be a problem when the info station was empty.  Complete loneliness overwhelmed my already frayed nerves.  The Park Ranger I had talked to the day before had promised the camp was full and there would be someone here to greet me.  At the moment, the campground seemed to be completely isolated.  No sounds except for the rustling of the leaves.  At that moment, I knew I would never be able to escape.  All I wanted was my lonely house at the end of the cul-de-sac next to the nursing home.  Not alone and desperate.

This has a surreal feel to it. Like a dream. What happened there?
