The Shell Collection

PHOTO PROMPT ยฉ Rochelle Wisoff-Fields

The shell collection was something I knew I needed to get rid of, but knowing and doing were two different things.  I knew I could let my past go by dumping the shells, but could I live with myself after the deed was done?  What would my mother think?  Did I care what she thought?  I never got the impression she liked me but always found myself seeking her approval.  I went about my day, still considering what to do, trying to not spend too much time deliberating.  It wasnโ€™t until my motherโ€™s ghost arrived that I knew the answer.

I agree with Li above. That is seriously bad news. I may not sleep now, having entertained the thought.

Damn it, Kate! If my mother haunts my sleep tonight, it’s your fault!

Obviously, this is extremely relatable and very good.

Oh, no. Nice twist at the end! What a terrifying thought, never being able to break free.
