Attorney’s Advice

“Every phone call I got from him was bizarre.  Honestly, I got to the point where I just didn’t answer the phone if I didn’t recognize the number because I knew it was him.”  I stared at the attorney begging him to not ask any more questions.  I knew what he wanted to ask and I knew what answer he wanted me to give.  The truth was only going to get me in trouble.

Jason had been calling me since we broke up three weeks ago. I knew exactly why I had broken up with him, but it wasn’t the kind of information I wanted to get out. My parents and most of my family lived nearby and I knew they would see my dirty secrets in the newspaper if I answered any more questions. They would never talk to or accept me again if they knew what Jason was up to. My parents had always warned me about cults because my Aunt Macy had never been the same since she had joined and my family would never be the same if my parents knew about Jason and his cult-like following.

Everything had started out as an innocent game, but escalated into something much worse. We were soon drowning in so much debt, we both had to dig our heels in deeper for our “beliefs”. For me, everything went downhill the day Jason testified in front of everyone that he was sent straight from Roswell to help aliens invade.
