Joker

Though I knew how I got the title of Joker, I had yet to understand why people were obsessed with giving me their extra Joker cards. I wondered what they thought I would do with them and if they ever thought about how being labeled as the Joker made me feel. If they only asked about why I was always playing pranks and deflecting the attention away from myself, maybe they would ask me how I really was doing. How I felt. The only thing I understood was if I could make my family laugh, then maybe they wouldn’t cry.

That’s definitely an archetype in dysfunctional families. Maybe one day someone will take time to look behind the mask.

Well done. There are jokers and then there are jokesters. We all have a role to play. 🙂
