  • For Granted

The past is slanted  Maybe by all the words that were chanted  What were his last words?  Did they fly away with the birds?  He shouldn’t have taken me for granted

  • Marriage

Why did he freak out  It was only one question  Will you marry me

  • King

He was the king of stalking  When people thought he was just walking  At the end of the day  No one knew what to say  Then immediately started talking

  • On Reading

I once had a cow who could read  In hopes he would someday be freed  My father said NO  He could not go!  So instead he learned to start a stampede

  • Boats

Everyone thought he was boring  For all the words he was storing  For the poems he wrote  All about the boat  When the rain started pouring

  • Stars

Everyone stared at the stars  Wishing they could trap them in jars  Lying in the cold, soft grass  Listening to the neighbor’s bluegrass  Coming out of six string guitars

  • Grey Skies

I tried to send her away  To look out over the bay  I only wanted to leave  So I could finally get a reprieve  Because the skies were turning grey

  • Obsessed

He was an honorable man  Who had always been obsessed with Batman  When he got into trouble  He started seeing double  When he saw the twin doorman

  • Bee Sting

On the day he hurt his knee  He said he only wanted to talk to me  But instead, he sat outside  And tended to his wounded pride  To admit he had been stung by a bee

  • Favorite

History was his favorite subject  Because no one could object  With the help of community  Hoping for immunity  As a way to connect
