Sailing

PHOTO PROMPT © Rochelle Wisoff-Fields

As the sailboat drifted aimlessly out to sea, I knew I would never see Robert again. He thought he knew enough about sailing for a short jaunt by himself.  He had never taken anyone’s advice to heart and did exactly what he wanted.  Knowing this, I still tried hard to stop him from sailing solo.  As I watched him sail farther away, I couldn’t tear my eyes away from his sailboat.  I tried to keep him in sight as long as I could, but soon the tears overwhelmed.  Whether out of fear or the possibility of freedom, I wasn’t sure.
