Top Secret

“This is top secret.  We cannot let anyone else in on our plan,” Jonah paused as he looked around at our small (but mighty) group.  “This is your last chance to back out with no repercussions.”

When nobody backed out or stared hopelessly at the ground, Jonah nodded toward the playground with determination.  I had hoped he was going to give up this plan, but here I was, back in the middle of another terrible plan.  I knew we were going to get caught and I only hoped I could get away before the police came.

Jonah was intent on getting pay back for what he considered the ultimate disrespect.  Personally, what Michael had done hadn’t seemed like a big deal at the time, but Jonah told me he felt like he had been stabbed in the heart.  A notion I thought was silly, but here we were, out for revenge.  I sighed as I filed in line but still made sure I was at the end.  An easier way to make a quick escape.

The playground we were stalking across was the one where I spend most of my childhood so I knew the best spots and the quickest escape routes.  What Jonah didn’t realize was the fact Michael came from a family of police officers.  A family with all the bells and whistles of a sophisticated alarm system.  One that would never catch me in a trap.
