“It was horrific. The worst. Like I couldn’t believe what I saw.” The longer Jennifer went on about the fight, the easier it was to tune her out. I wondered how long she could talk about a fight and still be interested. Henderson and Max had gotten into a verbal confrontation – Max threw one punch and that was the extent of the fight.
“Jennifer, I don’t really think the fight between Max and Henderson could really be categorized as horrific,” Jet said boredly from the backseat. Jennifer and I both jumped having not realized he was finally awake. He was never allowed to ride shot gun because he could never stay awake in the car.
“You clearly didn’t see what happened at the after party,” Jennifer said dramatically. At some point during Jennifer’s recollection of the actual fight between Max and Henderson, I had to pull my car over to the side of the road. Max and Henderson had been best friends and they were slugging out their differences in the park behind my house. All because Max was the editor of the school newspaper.
