“I knew the only place he could be hiding would be in the cave.” Lori looked over her shoulder like she knew exactly what she was talking about. The black look on Eli and my faces did not deter her from continuing.
“The cave in Sedona was the only place he felt safe.” I tried shaking my head over Eli’s shoulder in hopes she would stop telling her dirty little secrets whether or not she knew she was falling. Lori always shared too much and she was here, trying to pin the blame on someone else. She was trying to put everyone else on high alert that someone else had killed her Sam. Her Sam that no one had even liked or loved and her Sam that could do no wrong.
I alone knew she had killed Sam and I alone could save her. But I could only save her if she listened to what I had to say. If she listened to the plans I had. But how the day was working out, we were all in trouble. We were going to a cave. In Sedona. That only Lori knew about. I knew she had ambushed Sam and an unknown cave was the best place to ambush us. She and her brothers were ruthless. I wasn’t sure whether it was a good sign we got pulled over on the way to Sedona. I wasn’t prepared for the axes to be found.
