Blood of my Blood

“I knew the moment I brought up blood, she would change her mind.  There was no way she could get through any part of the plan if there was a possibility of blood.  Ever since she had to get stitches in third grade, she has fainted at the mere mention of blood.”  I peered out the front windshield at Becca’s front door.  She had sworn she would be here, but as soon as blood was mentioned, I knew she wouldn’t show up.

Which was why Mike and I were standing guard outside her house, waiting.  She was the one who came up with the prank and now everything was in order, Becca was the only one who could go through with it.  The only one whose father was on the police force and wouldn’t get in trouble.  No matter what she did.  And it wasn’t like anyone was going to get seriously hurt.  Maybe just a few scratches here and there.  But that was all.  When we finally were able to force Becca into the back of the truck, we sped off in the direction of Corey’s house.  Neither of us were prepared for what we came across.  Or the amount of police would be involved.
