Repulsed

I was completely repulsed by the stranger immediately.  There was something about his swagger that triggered me.  It kind of reminded me of how my neighbor walked and even though he was cleared of any wrongdoing by a technicality, I was pretty sure he did murder his wife.

Stacy “disappeared” two days after I heard their shouting match and to this day, I haven’t heard a word from her.  We were usually texting back and forth several times a day, and after three days of no word from her, I had tried to casually ask Alan where she was and if she was all right.  He first acted like he didn’t know what I was talking about before muttering about how she was visiting her sister.

Alan apparently didn’t know the true extent of our relationship because I knew she only had brothers.  Why would he even lie about something that was easy to check on?  After reporting her missing the very next morning, the police showed up to talk to Alan as well as me.  Shortly after, Alan also disappeared under mysterious circumstances only for his doppelganger to return to my life two years later.  I should have been worried the moment he walked in.

If I had known then what I know now, I would have high-tailed it out of the neighborhood – probably even the state. Now I am working on my revenge on Alan and his twin brother.
