“Are you sure you’re all right? You don’t look like you are feeling well.” I took Jasmine’s hand and jumped when it was as cold as ice. Jasmine was hot-natured and most of the time her hands were burning up.
“I think I’m fine. I mean, I am fine,” Jasmine sputtered out just before her eyes rolled into the back of her head and she collapsed. She was too far gone for me to keep her from making it to the ground, but at least she didn’t hit her head.
“Jasmine! Jasmine!” I practically screamed Jasmine’s name as I shook her shoulders, but her eyes didn’t open. I don’t know how long I screamed, but came out of my trance when I felt a hand on my shoulder.
“Hillary. Come with me.” Jed’s voice came from behind me and was more of a command than a suggestion.
“We have to help her! Can’t you see? What if she dies?” The panic in my voice doesn’t seem to deter him. I was confused by the sadness in his eyes. Or was it concern? Why wasn’t he helping? Before I knew it, his hand gripped tightly on my arm and pulled me off the floor. I looked over my shoulder to check on Jasmine only to find her gone. Had she ever even been there?
