Fairy Garden

I knew exactly what I was doing when I entered the store.  My parents were very strict, very straight and anything to do with fairies would blow their minds.  But there was something exciting about building an entire world for fairies.  An entire world for tiny beings not everyone could see.

I wanted to make as many fairy houses as I could and hide them.  But if I was caught, I couldn’t even fathom what my parents would do.  I wondered where in my house I could hide everything I was prepared to buy because if they found anything, life as I knew it would be over.  I browsed through the aisles of Michael’s, searching for pieces I needed to complement my fairy houses.  I had already compiled most of my supplies from the forest, but there were a few minor pieces I still needed.  I knew I still had weeks left before my project would be complete, but I was on the verge of something great.

My parents started noticing I was changing, but they thought my lightness was coming from the extra Bible study classes.  They would flip if they knew I wasn’t going to any of the classes and instead was building fairy houses with my art teacher.  As my houses became more intricate, my teacher became more involved.  We very quickly had our own little encampment.  We didn’t realize that one day in the very near future, neither one of us would be able to leave.
