I never understood my sister’s obsession with movie stars. Her walls were always covered with magazine cutouts, posters, homemade tickets, everything. I always thought she was a tad crazy with the whole thing, but it kept her focused on something other than me. I usually let the celebrity obsession wash over me, but the day I heard Lacie practicing lines and playing music, and I became interested. At first, I sat outside her bedroom listening, not wanting her to know I was interested. I didn’t want her to think I was interested in her celebrity crushes.
I also wanted to know what she was rehearsing for. Was she in a play or a movie? Was she learning a script for something? Was she writing her own songs? I finally got the nerve to ask Lacie what was happening, I shouldn’t have been as surprised as I was. All this time, she had been writing her own screenplay and music. And had an agent in the works. Lacie had never been interested in school so I had never expected her to start writing her own movie. Or music for that matter. As far as I knew, she didn’t have a musical bone in her body. The more interested I became, the more closeted Lacie became about her new creation. She wouldn’t even tell me what her screenplay was about. If I had known the trouble she had gone through to steal everything, I’m not sure I would have stopped her anyway.
