Sister, Sister

I never knew how much trouble a sister would or could be until Lily came into my life.  On a weekly basis, I had to count to ten so I wouldn’t lose my mind of the constant trouble she was getting herself into.  At other times, I knew I couldn’t live with her and didn’t know if I could live without her in my life.

Lily had come at an unexpected time in my life and though she wasn’t exactly my sister, you couldn’t tell by the way we fought like cats and dogs.  We often were asked if we were twins and depending on the day we either went with it or didn’t.  It usually depended on whether Lily was in trouble or not.  If she had taken my clothes or not. This time around, I wasn’t completely convinced she was not going to get expelled from school.

“It’s not like anyone got hurt,” she said almost casually as we walked toward the front door of our house.  “If Alan had not been in the wrong place at the wrong time, he never would have had to get any stitches.”

I stared blankly at the back of Lily’s head and thought it was lucky Alan only had to get stitches.  It was lucky he wasn’t in the hospital.  All because of a senior prank gone wrong.  All because the Prom King stood her up.
